Nick Morgan

Nick Morgan, born in Canada in 1984, showed a serious interest in music in his late teens. Having moved around the world as a child, he soon gained a love for a variety of musical genres. Playing recreationally for years, Morgan didn't get serious until the end of high school. Since leaving high school, he pursued a Bacholer's B.Mus degree in Jazz Performance through Humber College in Toronto, Canada. Through studying at Humber, Morgan got the opportunity to study with the likes of Pat LaBarbera, Alex Dean, Mark Promane, Kirk MacDonald, François Théberge (Paris, France), and Don Palmer. It is also during Humber College that Nick has performed on stage with artists like Dave Douglas, Dave Liebman, Randy Brecker, Steve Gadd, Rob McConnell, Guido Basso, Jane Bunnett, Don Thompson and many more. He has also recorded extensively in many different genres of music and in many different settings. In 2004, Word People (an 8 piece hip-hop project including Morgan on sax/flute) won 91.5fm TheBeat's "Rhythm of the Future" competition of a $18,000 recording grant, and was also a finalist in the 2006, JazzFM/Universal Records/Alma Records "Project Jazz" competition..

Since graduating Humber College,Morgan has been playing consistently in many different projects throughout Canada and most recently, Europe and the United States of America. He has also had experience on tour, and in recent months had brought up world renowned saxophone player/composer from New York City, Adam Niewood (www.niewood.com), and started a collaboration (www.equilibriumjazz.com) with Irish drummer, David Lyttle (www.davidlyttle.com).
